XVIIth Century Blue and White

This decoration derives from the motifs of 17th century Portuguese pottery which sought to copy Chinese porcelain.

The motifs are painstakingly painted blue as used to be the case at the time of the Discoveries to imitate Oriental porcelain.

The landscapes, cane fields and animals of the time prevail here such as rabbits, deer and birds.
